You can change your mind. You really can. It is simple yet not necessarily always easy. Choosing what and how we think has multiple levels of complexity. Sometimes it is as simple as turning the thought around, literally opposing it with another positive helpful thought. Offer yourself a gift and get something positive into your head.

In yoga this can be referred to as Pratipaksha Bhavanam from Sutra 2:33 of Patanjali’s Sutras (a 2000 yr old seminal text of yoga) or in more modern terms a form of cognitive therapy.
Switching the negative to the positive and then weaving into the mind with repetition can drastically change how you feel. When we change what we think, we change how we feel and then we change what we do… its a beautiful chain of events.
Let's take the negative thought, this is one of my favorites (and one of my kids as well).
This SUCKS.
Hmmmm… probably we are all familiar with it and maybe have used it as well.
Switch it to:
This is wonderful, it is exactly what I need to grow.
Start there or create your own that lifts you from the inside instead of sinks you.
Then say it slowly over and over, at least 10X.
This is wonderful, it is exactly what I need to grow.
This is wonderful, it is exactly what I need to grow.
This is wonderful, it is exactly what I need to grow.
This is wonderful, it is exactly what I need to grow.
This is wonderful, it is exactly what I need to grow.
This is wonderful, it is exactly what I need to grow.
This is wonderful, it is exactly what I need to grow.
This is wonderful, it is exactly what I need to grow.
This is wonderful, it is exactly what I need to grow.
This is wonderful, it is exactly what I need to grow.
Weaving the mind with this thought in repetition such as this sometimes is referred to as japa using a mantra (MAN means mind, TRA means weave).
10x is a beautiful start. Keep going until you feel shifted.
Catch yourself when you are in a negative, unhelpful tail spin and turn the head crap around.
Hope it helps, lemme know how it's going.
With love and fierce kindness,
Mel
